Scientific Wall Regulator by T.Cooke of York & London

Ref: 1107

Extremely rare wall mounted astronomical regulator by Thomas Cooke of York & London, in an ebonised hardwood case. The 12” square, silvered brass, astronomical regulator format dial has 24 hour indication, signed Thomas Cooke York & London, in gothic script.

The superbly made movement is typical of Cooke’s work with distinctive curved triangular shaped plates of phosphor bronze with exquisite water of Ayr decoration. Dead beat escapement with integral beat adjustment, delicate fine wheel train with high count pinions and epicyclic maintaining power.

The brass bobbed pendulum is suspended from a separate bracket fixed to the backboard and beats against a large silvered brass beat scale that is also signed in gothic script.
